October Radio Specials

Below The Radar
Friday, October 14th
5:30 pm - 9:00 pm Pacific

Many compelling and gifted songwriters eke out
a living below the music industry's radar. This
three-and-a-half hour special is devoted to
these songwriters, whether veterans or just
emerging, unsung heroes or well-kept secrets.

This time slot should invite many listeners in
the central or eastern time zones - as well as
my nightowl friends in northern and western
Europe - to tune in to the webcast. I've got
some wonderful artists to share with you.

Christy Moore : A Life In Song
Thursday, October 20th
10:00 pm - 12:00 am Pacific

He's been called "the greatest living Irishman"
by Shane McGowan of the Pogues, and Elvis
Costello referred to him as "a dangerous old
friend." Christy Moore has a brand new CD
due out any day now, and if the postal service
does its bit, I hope to have it for this special.
What I will have, for sure, is a bundle of the
man's previous cds, including the six-cd box
he released last year. I have pared the show's
songlist down to about five hours' worth now,
only three more hours to edit out. That's how
much I love this man's work. Join me for one
of the most alive and interesting artists at
work in the world today.

Alias Bob Dylan
Sunday, October 30th
2:30 pm - 5:30 pm Pacific

This show is a three-hour celebration of the work
of Bob Dylan, who took this name as his alias
when he left Hibbing, Minnesota, for the streets
of New York City. I'll draw some gems from
his original albums, from official and unofficial
bootlegs, and throw in a few covers as well.
Dylan remains a revolution and a revelation
in modern songwriting.

This time slot is beautiful for all my listeners,
except for those of you I know who tune in from
Japan and Australia - a bit early in the morn,
I think, for you. I'm looking forward very much
to compressing Dylan's genius into three hours
and having a helluva lot of fun in the process.

All shows are on CFRO 102.7 fm and live via
webcast at www.coopradio.org

I love doing radio!
