Safely In Reykjavik

Bless my gypsy soul...

I left Vancouver at 9:10 p.m. Monday, arrived in London
on Tuesday at 2:15 local time. My flight to Iceland, scheduled
to leave at 9:00 p.m., finally left the ground at 10:22 p.m.,
arriving in Keflavik at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday to the orange
glow of the midnight sun. So, after a very brief darkness out
of Vancouver, the sun came quickly again as we flew toward
daybreak. Then, leaving London just as it had grown dark,
we flew north into daylight again. Altogether, about 19 hours
in transit, across three days, and almost no night.

Icelandic Air managed to send my suitcase to Paris. Luckily,
I had my guitar on board with me, so it didn´t cross the English
Channel with my suitcase. My luggage will arrive soon, which
is good, as the shirt I left Vancouver wearing is ready for the
laundry. Disa was at Keflavik to welcome me. How good it is
to be with her again. The after-midnight drive into her city,
Reykjavik, was surreal. We watched a perpetual sunset, and
had the road to ourselves. At last, I could see the landmark spire
of Hallgrimskirkja, the lights of 101 twinkling below it.

I need to catch up on some sleep, but it is so fine to be in Iceland,
and to be with Disa once more. More when I´m rested!
